Artist Statement
“There is great pride in being a craftsman, working with different mediums and creating tactile works of art, not only to be viewed, but held and enjoyed by many. In its own right, I believe glass is a solid representation of my work. My artistic path is often impulsive, heavily based on emotions and experiences. Soaking up my surroundings, objects and surface details stand out, becoming motivation themselves. When you work with glass, you have to understand that while it is malleable and flowing, it retains a memory. Every mark and bend you make is imprinted forever onto the glass, every tool leaves evidence. Visible or invisible, the stress of being sculpted will remain in the finished piece, infinitely. This idea resonates deeply with me, as I feel the mistakes I’ve made and the processes I’ve followed will stay with me forever in my journey of craft. I want to create art thoughtfully, enjoying the experience of learning to understand my materials while focusing on the emotions created by the process.”
